The stellar work of former Texas Longhorns standout Emmanuel Acho on the Longhorn Network earned him a promotion to ESPN2’s college football programming, ESPN public relations revealed on Tuesday.
A new multi-year contract signed by Acho will move him from Texas Gameday into the ESPN2 studio on Saturdays with former head coach Jim Mora and Chris Cotter, replacing Jonathan Vilma and Chip Kelly.
Acho was a sixth-round draft pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2012 after starting 26 games during his four-year career with the Longhorns. After spending four seasons in the NFL, Acho transitioned into broadcasting when he made his Longhorn Network debut on National Signing Day 2016. Acho quickly became a fixture on Texas Gamedays as a full-time analyst that fall, drawing attention for his flashy yet elegant style and cogent, thoughtful analysis.
It was only a matter of time before Acho joined the talent pipeline from the Longhorn Network to ESPN, so congratulations to Acho on his new contract and promotion.
