On Monday, the Big 12 Conference announced the Media Day attendees for each day, with the Texas Longhorns opting to take Andrew Beck, Breckyn Hager, Patrick Vahe, and Chris Nelson to the annual event that runs from July 16-17 at the Star in Frisco.

The Longhorn Network will provide coverage of the four seniors chosen by head coach Tom Herman to represent Texas as the 2018 season nears.
A couple of surprising omissions come to mind — cornerback Kris Boyd and linebacker Gary Johnson, two seniors who are expected to be the best players at their respective positions. Defensive end Charles Omenihu will also remain in Austin, as will all the quarterbacks, continuing a recent trend.
Instead, Herman is taking his returning fifth-year tight end in Beck, his most experienced offensive lineman in Vahe, his most fiery overall defender in Breckyn Hager, and his prospective starting nose tackle in Nelson.
Hager in particular is known for his quotability, though that isn’t always a good thing, like when he talked about the need to take out Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes in 2016. Presumably, Hager will be better behaved as a senior, just expect him to draw some attention when he addresses the media.
The bottom line is that there are now less than 54 days until the opener against Maryland and there will be quotes from Herman and those players next week. Preseason camp is likely four weeks away.
The offseason is finally winding down, y’all.
