Texas WR John Burt ruled out for season opener against Maryland

The Longhorns expected the senior’s foot to heal in time, but that hasn’t happened.

When the Texas Longhorns travel to FedEx Field to take on the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday in the season opener for both teams, the Horns will be without three players.

On Wednesday, the school ruled out senior wide receiver John Burt due to a foot injury that he suffered during preseason camp. Burt was expected back for game week, but the injury has taken longer to heal than expected.

Freshman linebacker Ayodele Adeoye and freshman linebacker/safety DeMarvion Overshown were previously ruled out for the game due to knee injuries suffered during the first scrimmage of preseason camp.

The school did not provide an update on redshirt freshman tight end Max Cummins, who suffered a knee injury during the second scrimmage.

All in all, the Longhorns managed to make it through preseason camp in much better health this year than last year.
