Time for some football. Finally.

The Texas Longhorns are set to take on the Maryland Terrapins at 11 p.m. Central on FS1 at FedEx Field, only the third road game to open a season for the Horns since 1996.

On tap is revenge for last season’s 51-41 loss in Austin that spoiled head coach Tom Herman’s debut — a rocky start to his coaching tenure on the Forty Acres, no doubt. And only the second second-opening win in the last four years.

Texas sophomore Sam Ehlinger will the start at quarterback, while coaches expect sophomore Derek Kerstetter and redshirt freshman Sam Cosmi to rotate at right tackle. Running back will be by committee, most likely, with graduate transfer Tre Watson, sophomore Daniel Young, and freshman Keaontay Ingram splitting carries.

The only notable player availability to watch out for his junior linebacker Jeffrey McCulloch, who will be a game-time decision after suffering a pectoral strain during preseason camp.

Let’s do this. Hook ‘em!

Come talk Texas with us over on BON’s second half gamethread.
