Texas receives no votes in AP Top 25 after Maryland loss

The Longhorns were ranked No. 23 in the preseason poll.

Voters in the Associated Press Top 25 poll must feel about as burned as Texas Longhorns fans who bought into the offseason expectations, as the Horns didn’t receive a single vote in the poll released on Tuesday.

The story is a familiar one — the voters felt confident enough in Texas coming off a 7-6 season to rank head coach Tom Herman’s team at No. 23 in the preseason poll, but the season-opening loss to Maryland proved the Longhorns unworthy of that ranking.

Among the schools to receive votes in the poll were Arkansas State, Fresno State, and Hawaii.

The Big 12 teams in the rankings include Oklahoma at No. 6, West Virginia at No. 14, and TCU at No. 16.
