The 6’4, 194-pounder also held offers from 10 other programs, taking official visits to Oklahoma State and SMU in addition to trips to Lubbock and Austin prior to making his decision. Texas also hosted Fouonji on an unofficial visit for the LSU game.
A consensus four-star prospect, Fouonji is ranked as the No. 303 player nationally, the No. 53 wide receiver, and the No. 45 player in Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He broke out as a junior with a season that featured more than 900 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.
With two outside receivers already in the class, there wasn’t a pressing need for the Longhorns to land a commitment from Fouonji, who will instead remain in West Texas and join a Red Raiders position group that has featured some other talented, tall wide receivers in recent years.
