The Longhorns their first de-commitment following Sunday’s staff changes in Austin.

Following the announcement that the Texas Longhorns are parting ways with defensive coordinator Todd Orlando, the Longhorns suffered their first post-coaching changes decommitment in the form four-star Utah defensive linemen Van Fillinger.

Fillinger had been committed to Texas since July and helped lead his team to a state championship during a productive senior season.

There had been rumblings that Utah was trying to make a push in this recruitment, so they could be the school to watch moving forward.

With staff changes like this it is not uncommon for some kids to want to keep their options open and that goes double for out of state recruits like Fillinger. It will be interesting to see how quickly Texas is able to fill out the staff with the early signing period rapidly approaching.

Fillinger is ranked as the No. 285 player nationally and the No. 13 strong-side defensive end, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
