Devin Duvernay, Roschon Johnson receive Big 12 weekly honors

Two big-time offensive performances on Friday earned recognition from the Big 12, as Texas Longhorns senior wide receiver Devin Duvernay and freshman running back Roschon Johnson were honored on Monday as the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week and Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, respectively, for their production against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Duvernay set his career high with 199 receiving yards and a touchdown on only six catches, including a 75-yard touchdown catch that marked his 100th reception of the season. With that catch, Duvernay became only the third Longhorn in school history to reach that plateau. All six of his catches went for a first down or a touchdown and his seventh 100-yard game this season tied the school record shared by Wane McGarity and Jordan Shipley.

The performance against Texas Tech completed a spectacular regular season for Duvernay — he finished No. 1 nationally in receptions per game (8.6) and overall receptions (103).

Johnson was the only player in the Big 12 to rush for more than 100 yards last week, surpassing that mark for the second time this season. In rushing for three touchdowns, Johnson tied for the most by a Big 12 player while leading all conference newcomers in that category. Seven of his 23 carries against the Red Raiders went for a touchdown or a first down.
