The Texas Longhorns haven’t extended many offers in the 2021 recruiting class, but Houma (La.) Terrebonne defensive tackle Maason Smith became one of the few on Saturday:
AGTG! After a GREAT Day on Campus, I am HUMBLED & BLESSED to EARN an Offer from THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS #HookEm pic.twitter.com/aTRx5yfV9L— Maason Smith (@maassoonn_) March 31, 2019
The 6’4, 299-pounder picked up his offer while visiting Texas, adding to a list that already included Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Tennessee, and Texas A&M, among others.
As with many prospects from the state of Louisiana, Smith is considered an early Tigers lean with two 247Sports Crystal Ball forecasts in favor of home-state LSU.
Smith is not currently ranked by the services, but judging by his offer list, he’ll officially be a four-star prospect before long with a chance to rank among the top 10 players at his position after recording 59 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and two sacks last season as a sophomore.
