The Longhorn Republic celebrates the NIT win

Texas basketball managed to close the season with some momentum to build on for next season.

NCAA Basketball: NIT Final Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Longhorns went to Madison Square Garden and came away with their first postseason tournament in four decades. Shaka Smart and the Longhorns went out on a five-game winning streak and sent seniors Dylan Osetkowski and Kerwin Roach II out on a high note. What does that do for the story of the 2018-2019 season and how does Texas build on the momentum heading into next season?

On the football field, the Longhorns got bad news about freshman linebacker De’Gabriel Floyd, who will miss the entire 2019 season due to a spinal injury. With an already thin linebacker group, Kyle and Gerald break down what they are looking for from Texas as they head to the Orange and White game.

They run down the best of what’s happening on the Forty Acres in their Downing the Forty section, before closing it out with some Bang the Drum.
