It continues to look like the Fourth of July on the Forty Acres as the Texas Longhorns created more recruiting fireworks on Wednesday with the commitment of 2021 Denton Ryan athlete Billy Bowman.

The 5’10, 175-pounder pledged to Texas over offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Oregon, TCU, and others — Bowman holds more than 25 offers at the time of his commitment to the Longhorns. So this was another significant recruiting coup for head coach Tom Herman and his staff.
Bowman is a three-sport athlete — football, basketball, and track and field — who could play on either side of the field for Texas. At Denton Ryan, he was a first-team All-State selection at cornerback as a sophomore after a second-team All-District debut at wide receiver as a freshman. In track and field, he runs the 4x100 for Denton Ryan, but also has a personal best of 10.84 in the 100 meters, a strong time for his age.
As a result of Bowman’s speed, overall athleticism, and high school production, he’s ranked as a consensus four-star prospect and the No. 90 player nationally, the No. 10 athlete, and the No. 15 player in the state of Texas, according the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Bowman is the sixth pledge in the 2021 recruiting class for the Longhorns, with five of those commitments coming in the last 22 days. The group now ranks No. 2 nationally and No. 1 in the Big 12, according to the 247Sports Composite team rankings.
