Texas ranks No. 10 in the preseason Anway Coaches Poll

After out-performing preseason expectations last year, coaches around country are putting some respect on the Longhorns entering the 2019 season.

National expectations are rising for head coach Tom Herman’s Texas Longhorns program, as the preseason Amway Coaches Poll Top 25 released on Thursday as the Horns ranked No. 10 nationally.

Last season, Texas entered Herman’s second year at the helm in Austin ranked as the No. 21 team nationally, but finished at No. 9 after defeating Georgia in the Sugar Bowl to win 10 games for the first time since 2009.

Now, even though the Longhorns lost eight starters defensively and six more offensively, there’s growing confidence across the country that the notoriously underachieving program has turned the corner.

A favorable schedule also helps, as Texas only has to leave the state twice this season and plays at home against LSU.
