By this time next week, Tulsa (Okla.) Booker T. Washington wide receiver and key Texas Longhorns target Javian Hester will be pledged to the program of his choosing, as the four-star talent took to Twitter to set his decision date for next Thursday, Sept. 5.

Considered a long-time Longhorns lean, Hester picked up his Texas offer in February while in Austin for Junior Day, and he has since returned to the Forty Acres for the Stars at Night camp in late July. At this juncture, eight of Hester’s nine Crystal Ball picks project that he’ll be taking his talents to Texas.

If those projections prove correct in the coming days, Hester will bolster a Texas 2020 class that’s already on the cusp of a top-five national ranking, while doing much of the same for Drew Mehringer’s receiver room, which currently features from one pledge from elite in-state talent Quentin Johnston.

“Because of the coaches,” Hester said told BON this spring of why Texas was a top option. “Coach Herman and Coach Mehringer, those guys are very funny and cool, I like being around them. Also, Texas loves to throw the ball, especially to big receivers like me; so I think I’d fit in perfectly. I also love the facilities. They have everything I need to improve my game and make me a dominant force.”

Hester is also considering options such as Arkansas, Baylor, Georgia, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio State, and Ole Miss.

Another 6’4 pass-catcher, Hester is currently ranked as the nation’s No. 233 player overall and as the No. 40 wide receiver, per the 247Sports Composite. Throughout the past two seasons, Hester has hauled in 58 receptions for 1,091 yards and 10 touchdowns.
