The Texas Longhorns entered the season’s first bye week banged up, with junior quarterback Sam Ehlinger one of the players dealing with a nagging injury — Anwar Richardson of Orangebloods reported on Wednesday that Ehlinger is suffering from a minor rib injury.
Horns247 confirmed the report on Thursday.
As a result, the coaches have dialed back Ehlinger’s participation in practice this week in an effort to let him heal and he’s expected to play against West Virginia last weekend. After all, he’s played through the injury for the last three games, according to the reports.
The injury hasn’t slowed Ehlinger down — he ranks eighth nationally in passer rating and seventh in passing yards. Overall, he’s thrown 15 touchdowns to only one interception, but Texas has called fewer running plays for him this season, especially in the last two games.
