The Texas Longhorns came out and took care of business against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs with a 45-14 win, and were able to rest their starters in the process.

Quarterback Sam Ehlinger picked up right where he left off last season, completing more than 70 percent of his passes, en route to 276 yards and four touchdowns. In spite of the depth concerns, Texas got a solid ground performance from Keaontay Ingram, averaging 7.1 yards per carry on 11 carries.

Defensively, Texas took a quarter to settle in but pitched a shutout into the fourth quarter of play, leading the Longhorns to a comfortable margin throughout.
