The Texas Longhorns will kick off against the Kansas State Wildcats at 11 a.m. Central on FOX next Saturday, the conference announced on Sunday, as the Horns try to bounce back from the disappointment of Saturday’s three-point loss to the Iowa State Cyclones in Austin.
At 5-3, the Longhorns are now longer a Big 12 title contender with that loss and head coach Tom Herman’s job is in jeopardy. The fallout officially started on Sunday, when redshirt junior left tackle Sam Cosmi announced that he’ll forgo the remainder of the season and declare for the 2021 NFL Draft.
Kansas State is reeling even more than Texas — after starting conference play with an upset victory over the Sooners and four consecutive wins, the Wildcats have lost four straight games as the team lost starting quarterback Skylar Thompson. Two weeks ago, Kansas Stat was blown out by Iowa State, 45-0. On Saturday, Baylor staged a late-game comeback. It was only the second conference win for the Bears this season.
The Longhorns have won the last three games in an all-time series that currently stands at 10-10. The last four games have all been decided by four points or fewer.
