Texas Longhorns senior quarteback Sam Ehlinger has options.
After four years starting for the Longhorns, the NCAA is allowing athletes to not count the 2020 season against their eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That means Ehlinger and other senior athletes can either return for a fifth season, or try their NFL chances.
Ehlinger’s still unclear on what he’ll do.
“No seniors have really been in this position to where they’ve been granted an extra year of eligibility,” Ehlinger said earlier this week, according to the Dallas Morning News. “Both options are incredible options.” Ehlinger later continued, “It’s not like there’s one clear-cut what’s best for you, and what’s best for the rest of my life. There’s positives to each.”
“It’s a blessing to be in the situation that I’m in.”
