Saturday’s 38-point victory over the Kansas State Wildcats vaulted the Texas Longhorns back in the College Football Playoff rankings released on Tuesday, as the Longhorns sit at No. 20.

Now sitting at 6-3 on the season with one game remaining — Saturday’s contest against Kansas in Lawrence — Texas has only one loss to a team outside of the College Football Playoff rankings as Iowa State ranks No. 7 and Oklahoma ranks No. 11. Oklahoma State at No. 22 gives Texas one win over a team in the College Football Playoff rankings.
The top four teams remain unchanged from last week with Texas A&M on the outside looking in. With Saturday’s game against Ole Miss postponed, A&M will only have one more chance to impress the committee — a road game against Tennessee on Dec. 19.
Since the Volunteers are 2-6 on the season, the Aggies will likely need a loss from one of the Crimson Tide, Fighting Irish, Tigers, to Buckeyes to make it into the top four.
