The Texas Longhorns have made another addition to the support staff, as Chip Brown of Horns247 reported on Monday that head coach Tom Herman hired former NC State Wolfpack defensive coordinator Dave Huxtable as a defensive analyst. Huxtable is already listed as a member of the staff.

Huxtable has a tie to the program after serving as new defensive coordinator Chris Ash’s linebackers coach in 2011 at Wisconsin.

Closing in on 40 years as a coach, Huxtable started out as a graduate assistant at Iowa State in 1982, then moved to the junior college ranks for two years before landing a job as the linebackers coach at Western Kentucky, where he eventually became the defensive coordinator. Huxtable has also coached defenses at Georgia Tech (1996-97), North Carolina (2002), UCF (2008-10), Pittsburgh (2012), and NC State (2013-19).

Following the 2019 season, the Wolfpack parted ways with Huxtable after the defense struggled, ending the season No. 75 nationally in SP+.
