Four star Tacoma (WA) Lincoln athlete Julien Simon narrowed down his list of schools to eight earlier today, and the Longhorns are still in the hunt for the talented two-way player from the Pacific Northwest.
Simon is listed as the 5th ranked overall ‘athlete’ in country according to 247Sports and is ranked 101st overall in 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Simon’s finalists are heavy with PAC-12 schools and it should surprise nobody that schools like Stanford and Washington are heavily in the mix for his signature.
The Longhorns still being in the mix is a good sign here, but they will need to get him on campus at some point for things to feel a bit realer all things considered.
With recruiting visits on a permanent hiatus due to the pandemic it makes it a bit harder for schools like Texas to make significant progress with out of state elites like Simon.
The Longhorns will have to continue the relationship building process from afar, and hope to still be in the thick of things once recruits are allowed to make their way back to campus later in the year.
