On Thursday, the Texas Longhorns officially announced the non-conference schedule for the 2020-21 basketball season, which will feature home games verses perennial blueblood programs Gonzaga and Villanova, as well as an early-season trip to Hawaii for the Maui Invitational.
Texas tips off the season hosting Louisiana-Lafayette at the Erwin Center on Tuesday, Nov. 10. Three days later, the likely preseason No. 1 ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs will come to Austin for a Friday night matchup.
After hosting Stetson on Tuesday the following week, the team will travel to Maui and play games on three straight days at the Lahaina Civic Center from Monday, Nov. 23 through Wednesday, Nov. 25. This year’s Maui Invitational field includes a few familiar foes from over the past few years in Providence and North Carolina. Ed Cooley’s Friars have had Texas’ number the past two seasons. North Carolina has dropped eight of the last nine games against the Longhorns.
Texas is set to host Jay Wright and the Villanova Wildcats in this year’s Big 12/Big East clash on Sunday, Dec. 6. A pair of Ivy and Patriot League schools will travel to Austin to round out non-conference play in late December.
There are currently no true road games scheduled but that is going to change when the matchups are announced for the Big 12/SEC Challenge. Here’s the full non-conference schedule:
