The Texas Longhorns may be without a projected key contributor as junior linebacker DeMarvion Overshown announced via Twitter on Thursday his intention to sit out of athletic events if proposed changes are not implemented on campus.
In June, student-athletes from multiple sports released a list of requested changes from both the university and the athletic program. Athletes have met with both athletic director Chris Del Conte and interim president Jay Hartzel, but the school hasn’t announced any public changes yet.
Heading into fall camp, Overshown was expected to compete for a starting linebacker position in new defensive coordinator Chris Ash’s system. If Overshown does miss his junior season, the burden will likely fall on David Gbenda or Marcus Tillman, Jr. to fill the void.
