After Tom Herman decried the lack of depth following the team’s second scrimmage, Anwar Richardson reports that the Texas Longhorns have added graduate transfer Gabriel Watson on Wednesday.
Texas has signed Sioux Falls grad transfer running back Gabriel Watson, according to my sources. He led D-II in rushing with 269 Carries for 1957 Rushing Yards, 26 Rushing TD’s. He is not expected to practice with the team until Tuesday. pic.twitter.com/FRG7Ct5s1a

With the Sioux Falls Cougars in 2018, Watson led Division II in five statistical categories including yards per game, yards per carry and rushing touchdowns. Watson was poised for another strong year in 2019, but suffered a hamstring injury in the opener against Concordia St. Paul.
According to Richardson, Watson is not set to join the team until Tuesday, the start of their fourth week of practice.
Watson becomes Texas’ fourth scholarship running back, joining Keaontay Ingram, Roschon Johnson and Bijan Robinson in the room.
