Catcher and class of 2023 prospect Nikolas Sanders committed to the Texas Longhorns on Saturday night.

At University High School in Waco, Sanders primarily plays catcher but has also played in the infield and outfield, according to Prep Baseball Report.

Sanders is 6’1 and weighs 185 pounds while batting and throwing right-handed. Perfect Game reports that Sanders fastball velocity from across the diamond tops out at 84 mph with a 2.02 second pop rate.

PBR’s scouting report says Sanders is a “a physical right-handed hitter that has raw strength in the swing with present pull side power. He moves well for his size and has a high athletic ceiling.” It also notes that right now his biggest tool is his bat.

David Pierce is already putting together an impressive 2023 class with six commitments so far.
