The offseason hype that has surrounded the Texas Longhorns’ new-look offense didn’t take long at all to produce results.
On just the first play from scrimmage of the season, Sam Ehlinger connected with redshirt sophomore receiver Joshua Moore on a skinny post pattern, and Moore did the rest, utilizing his explosive speed to scamper 78 yards to the house for a quick Texas touchdown.

As noted by Longhorn Network’s Alex Loeb, the 78-yard score was Texas’ longest play since 2017 and longest touchdown since 2016.
After being suspended for the 2019 season after being charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon, Moore solidified the starting Z receiver role ahead of his redshirt sophomore campaign, and the earliest indication is that he could very well prove to be a weapon in that role.
