Texas WR Tarik Black signs with agent, will declare for 2021 NFL Draft

The graduate transfer from Michigan did not play in the Alamo Bowl win over Colorado.

After missing the Alamo Bowl victory for the Texas Longhorns, graduate transfer wide receiver Tarik Black will not return for another season on the Forty Acres after signing with an agent on Thursday in preparation for the 2021 NFL Draft.

Following an injury-riddled career with the Michigan Wolverines, Tarik Black opted to become a graduate transfer this year and landed in Austin as the coaching staff attempted to bolster a relatively inexperienced wide receiver corps.

The 6’3, 217-pounder started in the season opener against UTEP and got off to a strong start with five catches for 80 yards and a touchdown. However, junior Brennan Eagles recovered from a poor preseason camp to earn the starting job over Black once Big 12 play started and Black’s contributions significantly decreased thereafter — other than a 72-yard catch against Baylor, Black only had four catches for 88 yards during the rest of the season.

Black also did not appear against Kansas State in what become the final regular-season game for Texas.
