After firing third-year head coach Matt Wells on Monday, 247Sports reports that the Texas Tech Red Raiders have reached out to UTSA Roadrunners head coach and former Texas Longhorns assistant Jeff Traylor about the head honcho job. Traylor and SMU Mustangs head coach Sonny Dykes are currently the lead candidates to fill the vacated job.

Traylor was a tight ends and special teams coach in 2015 and 2016 at Texas. He has served in his current role at UTSA since taking the reigns prior to the 2020 college football season.
