After dropping yet another lead, this time at the hands of the Baylor Bears, it’s starting to feel like a recurring nightmare for the Texas Longhorns. Texas led 24-10 before the points dried up and the defense struggled to keep up with the line they were asked to hold, leading to another collapse from the Longhorns as a team.
Offensive miscues on the line and at receiver led to a tough day for quarterback Casey Thompson - who still managed more than 200 yards and a two touchdowns in the loss. Part of the struggle was Baylor and Dave Aranda’s plan to limit Bijan Robinson worked, holding him to a season-low in yardage and a career-low in yards per carry. The Longhorns also struggled from multiple drops and unforced errors - giving the Bears defense life repeatedly. Defensively, the Longhorns played their typical bend, don’t break style that held in the first half but fell apart late as the defense started to run out of gas.
