Texas offers 4-star WR Matthew Golden

The former Horned Frogs commit just re-opened his recruitment and the Longhorns didn’t waste much time in getting involved.

With the firing of TCU Horned Frogs head coach Gary Patterson making headlines across social media, it has surprised nobody that TCU pledges have begun to re-open their recruitments.

Klein Cain wide receiver Matthew Golden was one of the first pledges to back off his commitment to the Horned Frogs and with over 20 verbal offers, he won’t have much of a problem finding a home.

The Texas Longhorns had previously not offered Golden, but with how the season has played out and the need for playmakers at the position being glaring it didn’t take long for Steve Sarkisian and his staff to correct that with Golden now back on the market.

Golden has had a great senior campaign for Klein Cain, as he has already notched 63 receptions for 1,125 yards, and nine touchdowns.

The Longhorns have a big need at the wide receiver position and can likely sell early playing time with how Xavier Worthy has impacted the offense in his short time on campus. It wouldn’t surprise me if the staff tries to get Golden on campus for the Kansas game next weekend with it looking like they are funneling several priority visitors to come in.

A consensus four-star prospect, Golden is ranked as the No. 298 player nationally and the No. 46 wide receiver, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
