The Texas Longhorns remain in the mix for the five-star defensive back from The Boot, but it is going to be an uphill slog with the likes of Alabama, Florida, and LSU also in the thick of it.
The new Texas staff is certainly not shying away from competition when it comes to pursuing high-profile prospects both in and out of state, and they look to be making positive impressions with guys like Mathews.
