The Texas Longhorns suffered a significant loss in the 2022 recruiting class on Thursday when Liberty Frisco wide receiver Evan Stewart unexpectedly announced his decommitment via Twitter.

The 6’0, 175-pounder pledged to the Longhorns on Feb. 18, but after reconsidering his recruitment, Stewart wants to take visits after the dead period ends. Stewart did not specify whether or not he will still consider Texas, but the guess here is that the Horns will remain in the mix.
In January, Stewart released a list of top schools that included Alabama, Baylor, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Penn State, TCU, Texas A&M, and USC.
A consensus four-star prospect, Stewart is ranked as the No. 40 player nationally and the No. 5 wide receiver, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Texas still has six commitments in the 2022 recruiting class, including from Lewisville wide receiver Armani Winfield. The group now ranks No. 8 nationally and the No. 2 in the Big 12.
