Big 12 Conference officials are opting to eliminate the rule that disallows athletes from seeking immediate eligibility when transferring to another Big 12 school, 247Sports reports.
From 247Sports: “The reported decision comes in the aftermath of a report on Wednesday that the NCAA Division I Council approved a motion to let all student-athletes transfer once with immediate eligibility at their new school. As outlined by Big 12 bylaws, the existing rule has required that intraconference transfers ‘complete one full academic year in residence before being eligible to compete in a sport and forfeit one season of competition unless, in sports other than football or basketball, the director of athletics of the Conference Member Institution of initial enrollment consents in writing to the student-athlete’s enrollment at the second Conference Member Institution.’
The report continues, “For indirect intraconference transfers, existing Big 12 bylaws state that consent may be ‘unconditional or conditioned on the student-athlete completing one full academic year in residence at the second conference Member Institution before competing.’”

- Many, many moons ago, Chris Simms was the starting quarterback for the Texas Longhorns. That was many, many moons ago, like I said. Now, he’s an analyst for CBS Sports. He’s also an analyst who’s earned a reputation of late for giving bad football hot takes. Most recently, a hot take in the form of how he thinks former BYU Cougars quarterback Zach Wilson is a better NFL Draft prospect than former Clemson Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the latter of whom will very likely have statutes built in his honor one day. Anyway, feast your eyes on this hot mess:
Just in case there was anybody left out there who didn't believe Chris Simms just puts out hot takes for engagement, I present to you the only evidence you need. pic.twitter.com/PYKv2K91cK
