Brooklyn Nets player LaMarcus Aldridge is hanging up his court shoes, he announced on social media. He cited a recently diagnosed irregular heartbeat as his reason for the move.

Aldridge is a former Longhorn, where he competed for as a freshman and sophomore, and where he earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Years honors before announcing his intentions to enter the NBA Draft in 2006. Aldridge would go on to play for the Portland Trailblazers from 2006 to 2015, and the San Antonio Spurs from 2015 to 2021.
Aldridge retires as a seven-time NBA All-Star.
