The kickoff times and television carriers for three Texas Longhorns football games were announced on Thursday.
The season opener against Louisiana on Sept. 4 will air on FOX at 3:30 p.m. Central in the debut for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff. It will be the third all-time meeting between the two programs, with the Longhorns winning in 2000 and 2005.
Two weeks later, on Sept. 18, Texas returns to Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium following the road trip to Fayetteville to face Rice at 7 p.m. Central on Longhorn Network. The in-state opponents have met 95 times previously, with the Horns holding a 73-21-1. Texas has not played Rice at home since a win in 2015.
To close out the regular season after Thanksgiving, Texas hosts Kansas State on Friday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. Central on FOX. The 2021 season marks the second straight year the Longhorns and Wildcats have closed out the regular season, but the two teams have never met before in the traditional holiday game that used to feature the Aggies.
