In the midst of one of the biggest recruiting weekends of the year, Anthony Jackson made his pledge to the Texas Longhorns despite having at least one more official visit left to take.

The 6’5, 240-pound athlete from Las Vegas was just halfway through his official visit weekend with Texas when he decided to pull the trigger and make his announcement. Jones holds 10 offers, including from the Miami Hurricanes, who he visited a week ago, and the Oregon Ducks, who he is scheduled to visit in two weeks.

The long defender has tremendous upside and may see a rating bump as he heads back to the field for his senior season. He projects to either tight end or linebacker at the next level but with defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski taking the lead on his recruitment, the defensive side of the ball seems likely.

Johnson is commitment No. 10 for the 2022 class and is the second in the month after June, after the Longhorns went nearly two months without a commitment. He joins Arlington Martin’s Trevell Johnson at linebacker in this group and is the sixth defensive commitment of the class.
