ESPN recently released their summer football power index rankings.

Surprisingly, the Texas Longhorns were ranked No. 7, one spot behind the Texas A&M Aggies.

Here’s how 247Sports broke it down: “Can Texas win the Big 12? ESPN’s FPI believes Steve Sarkisian’s group has a shot, giving the Longhorns a 13.6% chance at doing so this season against the likes of Iowa State and Oklahoma. That’s a 10% increase from previous FPI ratings this spring. College football’s top assistant last season, Sarkisian left Alabama to try and build on what Tom Herman started in Austin, moving Texas from good to great. Former five-star running back Bijan Robinson is one of several ‘toys’ that Sarkisian will have to work with this fall within what should be an exciting offense.”
