The Texas Longhorns made it through preseason camp without some of the impactful injuries that hurt previous campaigns, but head coach Steve Sarkisian did deliver some bad news on Monday in the first game-week press conference of his career on the Forty Acres.
Sophomore tight end Brayden Liebrock will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery after battling through shoulder injuries last season that limited him to four appearances before shutting things down. So despite the fact that the consensus four-star prospect and No. 5 tight end nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, had surgery on both shoulders during the offseason, Liebrock wasn’t able to avoid another shoulder injury and another shoulder surgery.
Another season-ending surgery will also take place — for freshman wide receiver Jaden Alexis, an early enrollee with promising speed.
And redshirt freshman wide receiver Troy Omeire will not play against Louisiana after tweaking his knee recently in an open practice. Omeire misssed the 2020 season when he suffered an ACL tear.
