Officials with the Big 12 conference – what’s left of it anyway – and the PAC-12 met yesterday to discuss the viability of a potential merger, among other options, multiple outlets report. That, of course, is no guarantee much of anything will come of the meeting.
“We’re not determined that we need to expand in order to thrive; we can thrive at 12,” PAC-12 commissioner George Kliavoff said, according to ESPN. “We don’t understand the paradigm that if someone else has 16, you need to have 16. It just doesn’t make sense.”
