After a long offseason, gameday is just around the corner and the Texas Longhorns are prepared to square off against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns to kick off the 2021 season and the Steve Sarkisian era. Texas has taken on Louisiana twice - once in 2000 and again in 2005 - winning by a combined score of 112-13. However, this is not the Ragin’ Cajuns that long-time Texas fans will remember playing in the past.
Louisiana head coach Billy Napier took over the program three years ago and turned things around in a hurry - managing to win 11 games in his second season and had a shot at a conference championship in 2020. That 2020 campaign also added another feather in his cap, knocking off the Iowa State Cyclones in the season opener a year ago. Coming to Austin with Napier is super-senior quarterback Levi Lewis, who has been stellar over the last two seasons - passing for 5,324 yards, 45 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions in two seasons.
So what do we hope to see from the Longhorns on Saturday and who do we think will have a big game?
