New head coach Chris Beard’s first season leading the Texas Longhorns basketball program features a home game against the Tennessee Volunteers and road games against the Gonzaga Bulldogs and Seton Hall Pirates, the school announced on Tuesday.
Texas will host Texas Lutheran for a free exhibition game on Nov. 1 and then open the regular season at the Erwin Center against Houston Baptist on Nov. 9 before traveling to face Gonzaga in Spokane that Saturday.
To close out the opening month, Texas will play at Gregory Gym for the first time since 1977 when they face Sam Houston State on Nov. 29.
Other highlights from the non-conference schedule include the Abe Lemons Classic, the Big 12-BIG EAST battle against Seton Hall in New Jersey, and the Big 12-SEC Challenge in late January against Tennessee and former Texas head coach Rick Barnes.
Big 12 play is set to begin in early January, but the conference has not yet finalized the schedule.
