Comparing opponents and making predictions from those comparisons is dangerous. But I’m going to do it anyway…..
As a whole, Louisiana is a better football team than Arkansas. But the hogs have a huge home field advantage. I expect that the game will be closer than last week’s 20-point win. But Texas is still the better team. Arkansas will be highly motivated, but they haven’t won more than 4 games since 2016.
I expect the OL to improve as the season progresses. As the OL gels, the whole offense clicks.
Arky QB AJ Jefferson completed 57% of his passes last week, for 128 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT - in a game that Rice led until the middle of the 3rd quarter. But he added 89 rushing yards and 2 TDs on the ground, to go along with RB Trelon Smith’s 122 yards. The game plan is as simple as football cliches can get: stop the run and win the turnover battle. Make Jefferson throw the ball, keep him contained, and force him to make mistakes.
Give me TEXAS, 31-20.
