There’s no reason to think the SEC will expand beyond 16 programs, SEC officials recently told Saturday Down South. That means the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners will be the last additions to the nation’s strongest college football conference in a few years.
“We’re positioned at 16 (teams) for a robust future,” an SEC athletic director told Saturday Down South. “The need just isn’t there.”
That, of course, will come down the Notre Dame Fighting Irish’s plan in the coming years.
