The Texas Longhorns staff continues their run at trying to flip five-star McKinney safety Xavier Filsaime, pledged to the Florida Gators since April. The Texas staff extended an offer in October, but things haven’t got real until the past couple of weeks.
Per Jordan Scruggs of 247Sports, Filsaime has scheduled an official visit to Texas for next weekend and will give the Longhorns a longer look right before the early signing period.
Filsaime books this visit to Austin on the heels of making an unofficial to Texas last week prior to the Texas Tech game. Getting Filsaime back on campus in an official capacity certainly seems to indicate things are trending positively in this recruitment, but things will still need to get pushed over the finish line.
The 2023 season has been a rough one for head coach Billy Napier and the Gators. Filsaime was in Gainesville last weekend for the Florida State game and was gave some public comments about being solid in his commitment. Since then Florida defensive backs coach Corey Raymond was let go by Napier, adding another interesting layer to this recruitment.

Despite arriving to the party late in this recruitment, things are materializing down the home stretch for a potential flip. Adding Filsaime to the class would be another strong step in the right direction in Steve Sarkisian securing another top-five recruiting class.
