Five months after the SEC revealed the initial opponents for the Texas Longhorns, the conference schedule was released in a Wednesday special on ESPN.

The Texas non-conference schedule in 2024 features the season opener at home against Colorado State in Week Zero, a road trip to Ann Arbor to face Michigan, a home game against ULM, and another home game against UTSA before starting SEC play.

When head coach Steve Sarkisian’s program opens its first season in the nation’s best football conference, the first SEC game is at home against Mississippi State in late September.

It’s the fifth matchup between the Longhorns and the Bulldogs in a series that began in 1921, last occurred in 1998, and will break a 2-2 tie in the all-time series.

The Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma will fall on the second Saturday in October next year as the Sooners and the Longhorns face off for the first time as SEC opponents.

The following week, Texas returns to Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium for a high-profile matchup against Georgia.

In 2018, Georgia and Texas scheduled a home-and-home series starting in Austin in 2028, but now the two historic programs will play as conference opponents on the Forty Acres coincides with the 2024 Formula One United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas, making for a busy weekend in the city. In the most recent Texas-Georgia matchup, the Longhorns won the 2019 Sugar Bowl, 28-21, but the two programs haven’t played in the regular season since 1958, the only other matchup in Austin.

The following week, Texas heads to Nashville to play Vanderbilt.

The two programs played 12 times between 1899 and 1928 with the Commodores winning eight of those matchups, losing three, and tying in one. While seven of those games were played in Dallas, Vanderbilt holds a 4-0 advantage in Nashville. The only contest between the two programs in Austin was a 5-5 tie in 1903.

Two weeks later, the Gators will play the Longhorns on the Forty Acres for the third time overall.

The most recent matchup between Texas and Florida came in 1940 in Gainesville, a 26-0 win by the Longhorns. The previous two games were played in Austin — a 12-0 win for Texas in 1939 and a 7-7 tie in 1924.

On Nov. 16, Texas travels to Fayetteville to face Arkansas in a renewal of the old Southwest Conference rivalry. In 2021, the Horns lost to the Hogs 40-21 at Razorback Stadium in the second game of the Steve Sarkisian era. Texas leads the all-time series, 56-23, including a 26-10 record on the road following the Southwest Conference rivalry that lasted from 1915-91. Since the Razorbacks moved to the SEC, Arkansas has won four of the six meetings with Texas notching a 22-20 win in 2004 in Fayetteville and a 52-10 victory in 2008 in Austin.

The penultimate home game of the inaugural 2024 SEC season for Texas is against Kentucky on Nov. 23.

The only previous meeting between the Longhorns and Wildcats was a 7-6 win by Texas in Austin in 1951.

Concluding the regular season, Texas makes the trip to College Station to face Texas A&M after Thanksgiving in the first matchup between the longtime rivals since 2011.

The Longhorns won the last meeting, 27-25, after competing in the Southwest Conference together with the Aggies from 1915-95, followed by the Big 12 from 1996-2011. Texas leads the overall series, 76-37-5, including a 25-22-2 record in College Station. Since 2000, the Horns have also won nine of the last 12 contests overall.
