Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NCAA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Texas Longhorns fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
This week’s survey asked Texas fans to name their MVP and their Newcomer of the Year for the 2023 season. Not easy, I know. But the Longhorns defensive line ran away with the MVP vote, garnering 66% of the tally.
Considering T’Vondre Sweat was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and the Outland Trophy winner along with Byron Murphy securing the Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year, it makes sense the most dominating unit on the team won the vote.
Newcomer of the year was even more decisive, with transfer wideout Adonai Mitchell winning the vote after a career-high 813 yards on 51 receptions and 10 touchdowns.
