On Jan. 1, head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff lead the No. 3 Texas Longhorns in their first College Football Playoff appearance, a semifinal matchup against the No. 2 Washington Huskies in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.
From 5-7 to 8-5 and now 12-1, Sarkisian has steadily improved the Longhorns program since taking over nearly three years ago, beating the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa to herald this team’s improvement, then earning a spot in the Big 12 Championship game and a victory over the Cowboys to set up a tense Sunday morning quickly broke into euphoria when Texas earned a rematch of the 2022 Alamo Bowl with a game against Washington.
