Texas headed into this weekend comfortably entrenched in Big XII Conference 1st Place in Baseball. Conventional wisdom might suggest team confidence would be high as the Horns hosted an underwhelming Oklahoma team that has flirted with last place for most of the conference slate up until now.
And, then the unthinkable happens. TEXAS IS SWEPT.
Except for game 2 of the weekend series, Texas’ bats were silent … well, call it "on mute" as OU convincingly dismantled a Texas squad that manages to slip from 1st to 5th place with an 8-7 conference record. Texas’ overall season record stands at 27-15. Call that respectable. Losing to Oklahoma in 3 straight homes games? Call that unacceptable. TCU series in Fort Worth looms, even though they’re currently staring down the face of humility in Morgantown this weekend. It’s reasonable to expect The Frogs will be out for blood by the time Friday rolls around.
Maybe this weekend is an anomaly. A fart in the wind. Still, losing to OU leaves a nasty stench in the air.
