ESPN recently released their latest postseason bowl projections following Week 3 of college football’s regular season. And while it seems the favorites to land in the final four-team College Football Playoff are the Georgia Bulldogs, the Michigan Wolverines, the USC Trojans and the Florida State Seminoles, ESPN predicts the Texas Longhorns will land among this season’s New Year’s Six slate. Likely, ESPN adds, against the Tennessee Volunteers or the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
From ESPN: “Schlabach has changed his pick in the Cotton Bowl from Penn State facing Notre Dame to Texas facing Notre Dame. That would be quite a fun matchup for the fans. Bonagura, meanwhile, did not adjust his Cotton Bowl projections from a week ago, still taking Tennessee to face Texas despite the Volunteers losing this weekend. Though it’s worth noting here that Bonagura also has Tennessee in the Music City Bowl, so likely just a goof in the editing process.”
