The Texas Longhorns were uncharacteristically nervous, head coach Steve Sarkisian admitted of the team’s performance in the Sugar Bowl versus the Washington Huskies.

“For some reason, we had some uncharacteristic anxiousness at the line of scrimmage,” Sarkisian said, per On3. “We had different people with false start penalties. Those things are difficult because we’re trying to — let’s get to 2nd and 5 so we can operate. Then you get a false start and it goes back to 2nd and 10. Or you do something on 1st and 10, that’s okay. Then you false start and it’s 2nd and 15. Those are some things that were a little disappointing.”

“I don’t know if that’s because of the layoff,” Sarkisian later added. “Sometimes, being in the environment, you’re a little excited to go play. But I thought we rebounded well from those things.”
