We’re still a long way from opening day (just under two months, to be precise) but we’re right on time for preseason polls and rankings to be released so we can react to them. Collegiate Baseball Newspaper (CBN) recently released their 2019 preseason top-40 rankings, with the Texas Longhorns coming in at No. 14.

The full rankings can be found here.

The Big 12 should pose a tough challenge for the Horns, as five of the nine teams are ranked in the top 25. Texas Tech is atop the Big 12 at No. 4, with Oklahoma State at No. 16, TCU at No. 19, and Baylor at No. 21.

Other Big 12 teams receiving votes are Oklahoma (No. 45), and West Virginia (No. 66)

Out of conference teams on Texas’ schedule that are ranked inside the top 40 are LSU (No. 1), Stanford (No. 5), Arkansas (No. 25), Texas A&M (No. 29), Louisiana Lafayette (No. 38), and Sam Houston State (No. 40).

Texas is looking to repeat and build upon success from the 2018 season, which included a Big 12 Championship and a run to the College World Series.
